If you do decide to go for this make sure you have a running series of at least three or four save games - or else.Silent Hill: Homecoming is a flawed, but worthy addition to the series. The only thing I will say this game has in it's favour is some interesting design and artwork, and some of the monsters are genuinely unnerving. So to summarise, my experience was this: play two thirds of confusing and unsatisfying game and then get stuck on stupid puzzle due to poorly finished product and give up forever. And apparently there are far more bugs like this within the game. Now I know should have created multiple save games but, in this modern of age of gaming, I thought this was no longer required. Now because of this missing cleaver, I cannot progress. I played though 8 out 12 chapters when, for no reason at all, an essential part of a puzzle (a meat cleaver) randomly vanished from the game. Having said that I sort of learned to live with that until, the bugs. It's a million miles away from the elegance of the Batman games or the ammo conserving tension of the Resident evil series. Weren't the floating camera problems resolved by the original tomb raider games like, 15 years ago? Well apparently not. Your character seems to spend most of the time on the floor, or flailing in the dark with the camera stuck behind his shoulder. The game is quite combat orientated, and mostly melee weapon based, but the whole system is very annoying and slow. But then the sluggish combat begins to grate. If the gameplay is fun, I can live with suspect plot. But this is just video game so who cares about plot right? Well fair enough.
It's just a bunch of stuff that happens and is quite confusing. This game has impressive graphics and it does a good job at doing what is.
